More games to play
Schoolboy Escape: Runaway is a free browser game about one very bad evening: a terrible report card, a grounding, and two alert parents standing between you and freedom. Your job is to get out of the house without being seen or heard. No download needed. It runs in the browser on desktop and mobile, so you can play it at school or at home.
What is Schoolboy Escape: Runaway?
It is a stealth puzzle game where you play as a kid trying to sneak out of a house after being grounded. The game alternates between two things: quiet movement through hallways and rooms while avoiding parents, and small escape-room style puzzles where you find objects and figure out where to use them. Getting spotted or making too much noise resets that section. The loop is tense in a low-stakes, satisfying way.
Controls and movement
The controls are straightforward on both desktop and mobile.
| Action | Desktop | Mobile |
|---|---|---|
| Move | Arrow keys or WASD | On-screen joystick |
| Interact / pick up item | Click or E key | Tap object |
| Pause | Escape or P | Pause button |
Stealth mechanics and puzzle sections
The game has two distinct phases that repeat as you move through the house.
During stealth sections, your parents patrol fixed routes. Running triggers a noise alert; walking into their line of sight triggers a visual alert. Both send you back to the start of that area. In puzzle sections, the screen shifts to a room you need to escape from. You search drawers and surfaces for items, combine or place them, and unlock the next path. Neither phase is very long on its own, but together they give the game a rhythm.
| Phase | What you do | How you fail |
|---|---|---|
| Stealth | Tiptoe around patrolling parents | Running, making noise, or entering line of sight |
| Puzzle | Find items and use them to unlock areas | Getting stuck without the right object |
Tips for sneaking out successfully
- Watch each parent's patrol pattern for a full cycle before you move. They repeat.
- Search every drawer and shelf in puzzle rooms. Items are not always obvious.
- Walk, never run. The noise meter fills fast and parents react quickly.
- Plan your exit route before stepping into a hallway, not during.
- If you get caught, the reset is fast. Use it to map out patrol timing.
Is Schoolboy Escape: Runaway worth playing?
It is a good pick if you like stealth games but want something shorter and lower-pressure than a full action game. The puzzle sections add variety so it does not feel like pure trial-and-error sneaking. Rated 4.2 out of 5 from over 27,000 players, it holds up well for a free browser game.
